Cashier error: some merchandise returned but all was refunded.?
around the second week of november i purchased major merchandise from a local store using a major credit card. I have a master card account with this store also, but i didn’t use it at the time of purchase. At the time of purchase they were having a promotion of x amount of months with 0 interest, but i was unaware of this. So the next day i return some of the merchandise and ask the cashier at the returns desk how could i take advantage of the promotion of 0 percent for x amount of months.. Well she said “I can just transfer the amount from the credit card used to our store master card “. But what she does is give me a refund for everything purchased. Over 30 days later the charge is still not showing up on the store master card. But the very next day after the return, the return credit did show up on the credit card used. The cashier even asked someone how to do the transaction. But like i said its still not showing up on my account.

Don’t go patting yourself on the back that you got one over on them because it will show up when accounts are reconciled and matched out.
I would wait for your January statement. If it does not show up then, go down to the store with all of your receipts and ask to speak with a manager. Explain exactly what happened and ask them to fix the problem.
Maggie, I do not think our little want to be a thief wants it “fixed”.
hmm. while it may be tempting to “get over” on the store, and 30 days is certainly an unusual amount of time for something not to be posted to an account: 1. once the accounts are reconciled, there is a good chance that they will catch the error. 2. if they do, it could look like you and the cashier were in cahoots on something fishy or even illegal. at the very least, it could cost her her job.
that is why, since it is a significant dollar item, i would go there and report the mistake. it’s the right thing to do and karma comes back to you. it might seem satisfying to think that you “got over” on the store, but it won’t be when you’re getting a phone call from the credit card company.
